A few friends and I learned the So You Think You Can Dance National Dance Day 2012 Hip Hop routine. We uploaded it, think we’ll make it to air?
I am a self-professed Sci Fi GEEK.
Oh yea! I’m not ashamed to admit that I can never get enough of Star Trek.
I own my own 1960’s crewmember little red dress, complete with Starfleet Emblem. And yes, packed away in a cardboard box I keep my Star Trek Barbie and Ken safe from harm and my nearly 3-year-old daughter’s grip. I used to keep a Klingon pin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klingon) on my desk along with two other Federation insignia pins. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfleet_ranks_and_insignia)I am fortunate enough to know a few people who worked on Star Trek: The Next Generation and have stickers that were the ships controls and navigation. I even had fantasies as a little girl of kissing Kirk.
My Sci Fi love extends to Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Galactica, and Farscape to name a few. But I also love dance.
The only thing that gets my geek flag out even more than when I ramble on about science fiction is when I see dancers and choreographers I know. Like last Monday. I was flying from CLT to LAX for my performance in Expressing Motherhood (www.expressingmotherhood.com) when I noticed Twitch from So You Think You Can Dance. (SYTYCD) I walked right up to him and said, “Dude I love you. I have the link to Get Out of Your Mind with you and Alex on my computer. You rock!” If you haven’t seen that dance you must follow the link …http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEdDzNWwj5s I had a ginormous grin on my face and asked another man in line if he wouldn’t mind taking our picture.
I know how dorky that was but I didn’t care. I love watching SYTYCD and how those contestants move, leap and spin in ways I never could even when I was a young dancer. I started dancing when I was three years old and continue taking classes. Nothing frees me from space and time like dancing. I love it. I love Sci Fi. Life is Good.
