I was turned onto this article in the Huffington Post today and I liked it so much I wanted to share it with you all.

I myself am raising a 3-year-old daughter and think about the messages I give her. I consciously tell her, as I look into her eyes, “You’re smart, funny, beautiful, and kind” on a regular basis. I change up the order and the words, but I am always clear that she’s more than a pretty face. I’m also teaching her that friends are people who are kind to you and never make you feel bad about yourself.
What do you tell your daughters?
I love how you say this to her. What an important message. Growing up as a girl is so different than it was even 10 years ago. You’re such a good Mom 🙂
I’m looking forward to reading the article, thank you for posting it. I have to say that there are certain things about raising a little girl that terrify me. It wasn’t easy dealing with all the things that girls deal with when I was growing up and I know it’s very different now. I love your approach with your daughter though. She’s lucky to have a mom like you!
